NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Daniel Callihan, who is accused of killing 35-year-old Callie Brunett and her 4-year-old daughter, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, Aug. 6, to federal charges of kidnapping resulting in death and transporting a minor in interstate commerce with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

According to the United States Department of Justice, this plea comes following an incident that occurred in Loranger on June 12, 2024, in which Callihan reportedly stabbed Callie Brunett over 50 times, killing her, before kidnapping both of her daughters.

After kidnapping the two girls, Callihan reportedly committed sexual battery against the 6-year-old victim and later killed 4-year-old Erin Brunett. Callihan was arrested in Mississippi, where police say Erin was found dead and the 6
