LORANGER, La. (WGNO) — A parent and student are facing charges after a BB gun was allegedly brought onto the property of a Loranger middle school on Friday morning, Aug. 8.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, the 10-year-old student and their parent, 35-year-old Kristin Hutchinson were in a car line arriving to the school around 7:15 a.m., when the student reportedly started waving a BB gun out of the window of the car, pointing it toward at least one other vehicle in line.

TPSO officials said the student was then removed from the vehicle and the BB gun was confiscated. A TPSO School Resource Officer questioned the student and Hutchinson, after which additional investigation was done by the TPSO's Juvenile Division and charges were filed against the two suspects.
