PHOENIX — United Airlines flights resumed at Phoenix Sky Harbor on Wednesday night after flights around the country were grounded due to a technology issue.

According to United Airlines, the issue was resolved just before 8 p.m. but residual delays are expected as it works toward normal operations.

The airline company said the outage began at 5:12 p.m. CDT or 3:12 p.m. MST.

The system impacted by the outage is known as the Unimatic. It houses information about each flight and feeds it to other systems, including the ones that calculate weight and balance as well as track flight times.

During the outage, real-time status information for Sky Harbor stated that, due to a carrier request, departure flights to airports around the country would be not be allowed to take off until after 6 p.m
