SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) — The City of Spring Hill is under a sewer moratorium following a series of environmental violations at its wastewater treatment plant.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation issued a Consent Order outlining 29 effluent violations that occurred between 2023 and 2025. All the violations were self-reported by the city, which agreed to the terms of the order in a vote by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Aug. 5.
As part of the order, the city will pay a civil penalty of $65,700, with $13,140 due within 30 days.
The Consent Order also halts sewer connections for any new projects that do not already have vested sewer rights under Tennessee law. It's a move that could temporarily impact ongoing future development in the fast-growing Middle Tennesse
