CLEVELAND — New findings point to a critical failure that cost a Cleveland miner his life, as his family’s fight for answers continues.

Last November, a 43-ton loader struck and killed Greg Sychla inside the Cargill salt mine beneath Lake Erie. A federal investigation blamed the mine for a lack of signage in hazardous areas.

But a report from the mining company, obtained exclusively by 3News Investigates, tells a different story. It points blame squarely at the driver of that loader. It's new information, and new hope that someone might be held accountable.

THE TRAGEDY
