CLEVELAND — Macedonia firefighters extinguished a "significant industrial fire" that broke out inside the Jamestown Container Companies packaging facility on Thursday evening.

According to the Macedonia Fire Department, the fire was reported just after 5:30 p.m. at the corrugated packaging facility on Bavaria Drive East, with firefighters first arriving at 5:41 p.m.

"Initial reports indicated the fire began in a machine called a bailer at the rear of the building. Inside, bales of cardboard, stacked 12 to 15 feet high, were burning deep within their cores. After a short time on scene, crews identified that they had two separate fires in the building, each on separate sides of the building," the fire department said.
