FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Fairfax County Public Schools is looking to hire a bodyguard for its superintendent.

The school system cited national events as having inspired the job opening, in a statement sent to WUSA9.

"The highly publicized tragic events around the country over the last several months illustrate the need to intensify and enhance security protocols at all organizations," an FCPS spokesperson wrote.

A job listing for an "executive protection agent" has been posted on the "careers page" for the public school system since July. Among the responsibilities for the role laid out by FCPS are: providing protection during routine school visits, conducting threat assessments, and coordinating travel logistics for the superintendent.
