JEFFERSON CO., Ala. ( WBRC ) - While some students have already returned to the classroom, a majority of school systems head back on Thursday, August 7 .

That means you’ll see more big yellow buses on the road in the morning and afternoon.

A bus driver’s biggest goal is to keep your children safe while traveling, but they need your help to do it.

“People will drive through the stop signs tomorrow just cause they haven’t seen them for three months,” said Jefferson County Schools bus driver Jimmie Lay. “It’s sad, but I would say 20 times a year, someone drives through my stop sign on my route and they’re always looking down at their phone and texting or doing something that’s distracting.”
