MURRAY – As Murray Independent School District students head back today for the first day of classes, they will be greeted by new police cruiser artwork created by their peers.
The Murray Police Department last year invited MISD’s elementary, middle and high school students to submit artwork for the purpose of decorating the patrol vehicles for each of the district’s three school resource officers (SRO). MPD later posted the finalists for each school on Facebook, and the public was then able to vote on the winning entry. Capt. Andrew Wiggins, commander of MPD’s Community Services Division, said this was the first time the department had done a contest like this.
