CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- What a terrible, wonderful, ridiculous and legendary idea.
Welcome to Carlsbad’s running of the bulls, perfectly named “Slamarack” for their storied surf break in the middle of town know as Tamarack.
It takes a special kind of bravado and disregard for one’s safety to paddle out into a mess of hundreds of surfers, all with the axiomatic agreement that everyone goes on every wave.
“It was so sick, it’s my favorite time of year, it’s like the Christmas of surfing,” one participant said.
This is a child’s game, but how can you resist.
Not everyone was so lucky, there were sprains, there were cuts, there might have even been a broken bone or two, but at least all the people got out of the water in one piece. However, the boards were a different story.
