The UK's most affordable supermarket for this month has been announced - and it's not Aldi .
The discount supermarket giant has consistently been the cheapest supermarket for 19 consecutive months, until this month, as per new data released by consumer magazine Which?
Which? discovered that Lidl, another German budget retailer, is actually cheaper than Aldi this month, causing Aldi to fall to second place for the first time in 20 months. The magazine conducts a monthly analysis of the cost of 76 equivalent staple items at every major supermarket.
The list of 76 items included both branded and own-brand items, such as Birds Eye peas, Hovis bread, milk and butter, reports the Express .
