A historic Victorian summer home tied to one of Brooklyn’s early literary voices and Mount Arlington’s founding generation has hit the market for $1.15 million.
Listed in July by Karen Foley of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, the 1886 home at 14 Hopatcong Avenue was the seasonal retreat of Catherine Farrell Walsh, a Brooklyn resident who helped establish Mount Arlington in the late 19th century.
Known locally as the Catherine Walsh Cottage, the restored Victorian on a hilltop above Lake Hopatcong was a frequent summer residence for her son, Thomas Walsh.
