WALDEN — Bookended by large crates and rows of Pink Lady and Fuji apple trees, local leaders, politicians and business owners spoke at Crist Bros Orchards about the effects of federal cuts on food, research, and farming and agriculture community in the Hudson Valley.

“So much of the federal food and ag policy is about big mega corporate farms and giving them more resources and more power and more money,” said U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan , who hosted the event. “And that often comes at the expense of almost all of our farms here in the Hudson Valley who have been doing this for many generations.”
