RENSSELAER, Ind. (WLFI) — A truck driver died in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 on Monday night.

The crash occurred around 10 p.m. near the 218-mile marker, about three miles north of Rensselaer.

According to the Indiana State Police, a red bobtail tractor was in the right lane when a blue semi truck quickly approached. The driver of the blue semi swerved into the median to avoid a crash and hit a cable barrier. Another semi, following closely behind, could not stop in time and crashed into the bobtail tractor.

Officials said the crash caused both the semi and the tractor to catch fire. The driver of the truck died at the scene.
