Police have said a blaze in East Lothian was wilful, as they carry out enquiries.

The incident saw a stack of hay bales set alight at around 8.45pm on Wednesday, August 6. After emergency services were alerted, one Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliance was sent to the scene.

Officers have said there have been no reports of any injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.45pm on Wednesday, 6 August, 2025, we received a report of bales on fire on Smith Wynd, Tranent.

"There were no reports of any injuries. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing."
