An $8 million project will bring affordable housing to the Meridian Highland neighborhood just north of downtown as part of the Indy Health District initiative, which focuses on improving areas in the vicinity of Indiana University Health's $2.3 billion new hospital.

Indy Health District, a non-profit that launched last year , aims to improve access to quality food, housing, health services, education and transportation for Indianapolis residents spanning five neighborhoods that sit in the shadow of the medical campus taking shape near 16th Street and Capitol Avenue.The 1500-acre region includes the Crown Hill, Meridian Highland, Historic Flanner House Homes, Highland Vicinity and Ransom Place neighborhoods.
