JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - On this day in Michigan history, August 7, 1970, the Goose Lake Music Festival kicked off near Jackson.

The festival was promoted as the ‘Woodstock of the Midwest.’

Over 200,000 people attended the event.

However, it sparked outrage from local officials over nudity, drug use, and traffic chaos.
