(WJW) - Sobriety checkpoints will take place in at least two northeast Ohio counties on Friday.
According to law enforcement, OVI checkpoints are planned for Summit and Wayne Counties.
The Summit County OVI Task Force said in a release that officers will be conducting checkpoints across Summit County on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, into early Saturday morning, Aug. 9, 2025.
An exact location and time have not yet been released..
In Wayne County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said troopers will hold a checkpoint on State Route 3 from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday. Officials also warn motorists that they can expect nearby saturation patrols.
In 1990, the Supreme Court upheld the use of sobriety checkpoints as long as they meet certain guidelines, which includes public notification.
