The search is continuing on Thursday morning for a 6-year-old boy who fell from a boat ramp into the Housatonic River in Stratford on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities said that their investigation is now a recovery mission.

“Well, unfortunately, it's, it's a recovery issue at this time," Captain Jerry Pinto, of Stratford Police, said.

"We're hopeful that we, find the boy today,” he said.

Police said the little boy was walking on the Birdseye Boat Ramp when he fell into the river around 1:30 p.m.

A United Illuminating employee jumped into the river to try to save him, but the child has not been found.
