CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A person died after being shot in north Charlotte Thursday morning, according to police .

The shooting happened around 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, along Reindeer Way Lane near Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.

What happened

Police said they responded to a fight call for service and, upon arrival, found a person unconscious.

As officers and paramedics rendered aid to the victim, they found the person had been shot. That person was then rushed to the hospital by Medic and was pronounced dead a short time later.

As of this writing, no arrests have been made, and the victim has not been identified.

The case has been labeled a homicide investigation.
