CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A funeral was taking place Friday for Veronica “Vicki” Foster, a former assistant chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
A viewing was scheduled for 9 a.m.-11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8 for Vicki Foster at First Baptist Church in Charlotte, located in Uptown. The funeral was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
Foster died two weeks ago on Friday, July 25.
Foster served on the police force for 29 years before retiring from her role as assistant police chief in 2020. She served as the highest ranking female officer ever within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Foster’s career on the force began in 1991, when she started as a patrol officer. She then rose through the ranks as a sergeant, captain, major, deputy chief, and finally assistant chief.
