MATTHEWS, N.C. (WBTV) - A staff member at a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools high school was arrested Thursday after he allegedly brought two guns onto campus.

An arrest warrant said 37-year-old Justin Parker Moyer brought two pistols to Butler High School in Matthews. He was arrested on Aug. 7 and was charged with having a gun on educational property.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ athletic lists Moyer as Butler’s athletic director. On June 9 -- less than two months before his arrest -- the district’s athletic X account that welcomed Moyer to the school.

Records showed Moyer was released from jail not long after his arrest and that he signed a written promise to appear in court.

Moyer was scheduled to appear in Mecklenburg County court on Friday afternoon.
