CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Charlotte region just recorded its biggest summertime high temperature swing in 80 years!

In the last two weeks, Charlotte’s high temperatures went from 102 degrees to a high of only 69 degrees within a 10-day period. That’s a 33-degree temperature swing!

Is that big of a swing in high temperatures common for Charlotte in the summer?

First Alert Meteorologist Rachel Coulter looked through decades of temperature data for Charlotte’s summer months -- June, July, and August -- to look for more instances of large temperature swings.

Turns out, the temperature swing isn’t common in the summertime at all. In fact, the recent 33-degree high temperature swing was the city’s biggest-ever swing in 80 years.
