JEFFERSON PARISH, La. —

A local nonprofit is once again in need of volunteers willing to advocate for children impacted by abuse and neglect in court.

At the time, officials with CASA Jefferson said there were 36 kids in Jefferson Parish waiting on an advocate.

Some of those children are still waiting as of August.

Volunteers must first pass a background check and attend a series of classes before joining the program.
