LORANGER, La. —

A 10-year-old and their parent have been arrested due to having a gun on school property at Loranger Middle School.

According to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, around 7:15 p.m., multiple school officials and other people in the line reported seeing the child waving a gun out the window of the car and pointing the gun toward at least one other car in line. Advertisement

The student was removed from the car and kept outside the building while the weapon, confirmed as a BB gun, was confiscated.

A school resource officer began conducting an investigation and charges were filed against the student and the mother.

The student is being charged with one count of carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon by a student on school property and one count of terrorizing.
