NORTHALSTED — Ketchup may be frowned upon on hot dogs in Chicago — but it can now be found in smoothies here.

A collaboration between Heinz and Smoothie King, released Wednesday, is purported to be the first ketchup-based smoothie — and Smoothie King’s Northalsted location, 3479 N. Broadway, is among the chain’s locations offering the concoction for a limited time. It costs $5.70.

The smoothie blends real ketchup with acai sorbet, apple juice, strawberries and raspberries for a summer treat. Blending the ingredients results in “a sweet and fruity smoothie with a bright, tangy ketchup finish,” according to Heinz’s press release.
