It's growing season, literally and figuratively, at the Warren Parks & Recreation Department's nascent Community Garden, which is well in the midst of its first year on site at the corner of Schoolhouse Road and Kinnicutt Avenue

The project took shape in recent months, beginning with the garden's fence enclosure, the addition of a storage shed refurbished by students in the Mt. Hope High School Career and Tech program, the digging of an irrigation well, the situating of the some 30 raised beds followed by the actual plantings of the eager gardeners.

The participants paid $50 to secure one of the available beds, steel structures with the garden's 120 feet by 100 feet footprint.
