A convicted murderer has had his life-sentence extended for assaulting an officer at HMP Whitemoor, a Category A men’s prison in March, Cambridgeshire .
Sean Obazee, 31, was sentenced to an additional 37 months in prison at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, August 4, after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm. This is on top of his minimum life sentence of 30 years that he is currently serving.
Obazee, who has since been moved to HMP Long Lartin, near Evesham, Worcestershire, punched the Whitemoor officer in the face at about 5:50pm on Wednesday, August 28, last year. The assault, which was unprovoked, happened when the officer was walking along a corridor.
Other prison officers had to intervene to end the attack. The officer was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured.
