LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- For the past week, 6 News has received several tips that Michigan State University was transitioning Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) from University Health and Wellbeing (UHW) to MSU Health Care.
MSU also laid off the director of CAPS earlier this week, per a report from The Detroit News.
Megan Fuller, a student mental health ambassador at the program, told 6 News yesterday that CAPS had laid off all of its psychiatrists and that counseling would be transitioned to MSU Health Care through the MSU Psychiatric Clinic. Fuller said patients would receive a new psychiatrist every three months.
Nearly 1,500 people signed a petition to reinstate the director of CAPS and "maintain its integrated care model."
