DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Appeals Court has upheld the conviction of a man who was found guilty of shooting and killing someone in Dubuque in 2023.
In February 2023, police responded to Rhomberg Avenue in Dubuque after receiving a report of shots fired. When law enforcement arrived on scene, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
First responders took the man, later identified as Lonnie Burns of Dubuque, to the hospital, but he died from his injuries.
Police conducted an investigation into the incident, which led to the arrest of Aaron Johnson . Johnson was charged with first degree murder and first degree robbery in connection to Burns death.
Police said Johnson was part of a group who was trying to rob Burns of drugs and money.
