Southern Manitoba was pounded by rain, hail and strong winds on Wednesday.

The stormy weather started rolling into the region late in the afternoon. This prompted Environment Canada to issue a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Steinbach and area, as well as a Tornado Warning for areas to the north.

The storm dumped 18.7 millimetres (mm) of rain in Steinbach, as well as hail and produced wind speeds of 66 kilometres per hour (km/h).

Robyn Dyck is a Meteorologist with Environment Canada. She says they saw lots of pictures of funnel clouds, but do not have confirmation that any of them touched down.

Manitoba Agriculture is reporting the following rain amounts from the southeast for Wednesday: • St. Labre - 29.5 mm • Steinbach - 18.7 mm • Beausejour - 13.1 mm • Marchand - 8.1 mm •
