The Steinbach Chamber of Commerce is responding to the city's recent decision to cease funding for the Steinbach Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) pilot project.

Steinbach City Council made the unanimous decision at a council meeting on Tuesday, with plans to officially stop funding it on Dec. 31 this year.

Council explained there were a lack of results from the project, and an overlap of duties between SEDC and the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce.

The project was launched in 2021, with the goal of attracting investment, supporting local business growth, and enhancing regional economic competitiveness.
