SMITHFIELD – Georgiaville Baptist Church will hold a backpack drive on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will be providing backpacks and all school supplies needed for at least 100 local students to get their school year started in a positive way, say organizers.

The drive will be held at the church, 100 Farnum Pike. The church will host games and offer snacks and refreshments, and will also provide free back-to-school haircuts for students.

Sharon Pratt, of the church’s outreach ministry, said members have been out around town asking local businesses to donate in any way possible.
