PROVIDENCE – Minutes before the RIPTA Board of Directors convened Thursday morning, Gov. Dan McKee released a letter urging the board to reject the current proposal for widespread service cuts. The governor instead suggested the board pursue a more "balanced" plan that includes fare increases and targeted route reductions.
The board, which had been expected to vote on the proposed service changes during its 9:30 a.m. meeting, instead voted unanimously to delay the decision.
"Given the volume of comments and new information that we've had presented ...
