CUMBERLAND – Ernie Labbe says he still believes that at some point in time, there will be a new multi-day festival for the town, and organizers may even use the CumberlandFest name for it.

It may be, Labbe said, that a new young group of community-minded citizens interested in bringing residents together for days of enjoyment at the park emerges.

In the case of CumberlandFest under the Cumberland Youth Activities Council (CYAC), “we ran our course,” he said. There were efforts in 2019 to change up the festival, including adding a beer tent and relocating the midway, and the changes proved popular and successful, to a certain extent, said Labbe.

A year after that new and improved festival, the 2020 version, which would have been the 30th anniversary year, was shut down due to COVID
