EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — City Officials in Evansville say a new tax is being introduced in an effort to fix local roads.

An announcement from the City of Evansville says the new "wheel tax" will bring in millions in revenue to fix the city's streets.

At Monday’s City Council meeting, members will introduce a proposed City of Evansville Wheel Tax.

For most residents, it means $25 per year, paid when you renew your vehicle registration, according to the City.

According to the announcement from the City, the decision comes following encouragement from the Indiana Legislature and Governor Braun.
