SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — One person was killed in San Angelo after historic floods washed over parts of the town on July 4, a day that saw at least 135 flood-related fatalities across the state. The store she worked at is honoring her by painting her preferred parking spot.

The San Angelo Police Department reported on July 5 that the body of Tanya Burwick, 62, had been located that morning "several blocks away from where her vehicle had been found" on July 4. The discovery came after the SAPD was notified on July 4 "of a missing individual who was last seen driving in an area impacted by the rising floodwaters," which prompted a search operation.
