Social media apps are constantly rolling out new updates to ensure their platforms are advancing with the times, and these changes often garner mixed reactions. Instagram launched its newest feature this week, Instagram Map, which allows users to share their live location with their followers.

The Map feature is off by default, and there are also options to hide certain locations, updates from certain people, and more. Each user can select specific individuals or groups, such as close friends, to share their location with. If you share your location, it will update each time you open Instagram , and your location disappears after 24 hours if you don’t open the app.
