PORTALES, N.M. (KFDA) - Ruben learns how the Eastern New Mexico University football team in Portales helped Ruidoso residents with flood cleanup.

Head coach Kelley Lee says the team went down to Ruidoso because they have been hit with wildfires and floods in recent years.

“So when we saw all the destruction, they’d been there and we had a good group of our men here on campus working out in the summer, we thought that’d be a great thing to do,” said Lee.

Lee says they always try to do a lot of community service locally, but that was a community that really needed some help.

“To be able to bring our boys out there was really rewarding and got them to lend a hand. We got to do it on some athletic fields, got them cleared out so those young people really also could have their little league
