WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An 18-year-old man is facing a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of a man that occurred early last Sunday in Winston-Salem.

According to court records, Gerard De’unta Lewis, of Kernersville, is accused of killing 20-year-old Deshaun Christian Capers on Aug. 3.

Officers responded to the 3000 block of North Patterson Avenue around 12:25 a.m. for reports of gunfire. They found Capers with gunshot wounds.

Capers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident. He was given no bond.
