CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said the National Guard is preparing for a mission supporting Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to The Gazette.

Governor Reynolds told reporters the Iowa National Guard will help with clerical tasks. This decision was made despite protests around Iowa in support of immigrants.

On July 5, over 300 people gathered to support families who were going to their regular immigration check-ins. Three people were detained that day.

Reynolds stated The National Guard will focus on logistics and processing, but no specifics have been confirmed. She says Iowa will become the latest state to coordinate with ICE officers.
