GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - The American Red Cross of Western Colorado has opened two shelters to help those affected by a pair of wildfires ravaging near Meeker.

The Red Cross said in a news release that the locations are: • Moffat County High School: 900 Finley Lane in Craig. • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 125 Eagle Crest Drive in Rangely.

One of those blazes, the Lee Fire, skyrocketed in growth Wednesday, as it is at 45,000 acres. The wildfire was around 14,000 acres earlier in the day. The second blaze, the Elk Fire, is at 14,250 acres. The blazes were caused by lightning.
