HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey and State Transportation Secretary Stephen Todd Rumbaugh met with Shaz Umer, Director of Strategic Initiatives for the U.S. Department of Transportation, to celebrate a new technology grant.
The state received the grant through the Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) grant program, which is a federal grant program through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), according to Governor Morrisey.
Governor Morrisey said the grant is to conduct demonstration projects focused on advanced smart community technologies and systems in order to improve transportation efficiency and safety.
