Four neighbors who acted selflessly when a plane crash-landed on a Pembroke Pines street three weeks ago are the reason the night of July 13 didn’t end in tragedy.
Wednesday night’s commission meeting in Pembroke Pines was to honor them, but also to hear of the grief and loss from another crash that ended differently and to demand that something be done to make North Perry Airport safer.
Boca Raton Police Detective Scott Hanley, Emanuel Llanguno, Eddy Crispin and Tarrance Sheffield received life-saving awards Wednesday night for jumping into action and rescuing a family of four from their burning plane within minutes on July 13. The two adults and two children in the plane had only minor injuries once the men pulled them from the wreckage.
After presenting the men with the awards, Pem
