HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Grand Strand lottery player took home $500,000 after buying a $10 scratch-off at a Myrtle Beach-area Lowes Foods, South Carolina lottery officials said Thursday.
"It's a fresh start," the man told lottery officials.
The winning ticket was sold after the man grabbed his groceries at the S. Commons Drive Lowes Foods. He says he bought the $10 scratch-off with winnings from another lottery ticket he cashed in.
"I was playing with your money," he joked.
The Lowes Foods received a $5,000 commission for selling the claimed ticket. The odds of winning $500,000 in the $500,000 Jackpot game are 1 in 1,152,000.
