SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- The Town of Surfside Beach took a step toward allowing golf carts at night.
This comes after South Carolina passed a law in May allowing municipalities to regulate their own golf cart ordinances.
The state's default rule prohibits the use of golf carts between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. which is what the town of Surfside Beach follows, Mayor Rob Krouse said.
"Right now in the middle of the summer, you're out at 8:15, you're breaking the law," he said. "And yet there's still 45 minutes of daylight. You know, it's a little counterintuitive. And maybe we here living in town figure it out but I don't know that visitors do."
