AUGUSTA, Maine — A Boston man and two others are facing charges after Augusta police and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agents executed a search and arrest warrant at an apartment on Water Street Wednesday.

The operation at 163 Water Street was part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal sale and distribution of narcotics, Augusta police said Thursday in a press release.

Luis Mercado, 55, of Boston, was arrested on two counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, as well as charges of possession of a firearm, falsifying evidence, refusing to identify himself, and refusing to submit to arrest, according to the release. He is being held at the Kennebec County Jail on $75,000 cash bail, police said.
