GOLDEN MEADOW, La. — Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill's office announced the arrest of former Golden Meadow Police Chief Troy Dufrene, accused of wiping out more than 12 years of critical police records just before leaving office.

Dufrene turned himself in on Wednesday at the Lafourche Parish Jail, where he was booked on multiple felony charges, including injuring public records, malfeasance in office, and computer tampering.

According to Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI), the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office requested assistance after uncovering suspected misconduct. Investigators said Dufrene deliberately deleted internal case management files shared between the Sheriff's Office and Golden Meadow Police Department.
