WOODRUFF COUNTY, Ark. — The Woodruff County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) has confirmed a deadly plane crash in Augusta.

According to reports from Sheriff Phil Reynolds with the WCSO, the plane crashed in the middle of a cornfield near the Cypress Creek Country Club.

Officials say that the pilot of the plane died as a result of the crash, and that his grandson is in the hospital. However, no information has been released on the grandson's current condition.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been on the scene to survey the area, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is set to visit the site on Friday morning.
