SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - Human remains found earlier this month were confirmed to be a missing Vail man who hasn't been seen since May.
According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement determined the remains were Sean Marquardt after they found personal property that was confirmed to have belonged to him.
The sheriff's office said it received on Aug. 2 a report of possible human remains in a steep and remote area above Officers Gulch. Over the following three days, the sheriff's office, along with the Summit County Coroner's Office, Summit County Rescue Group, Vail Police Department, and a Mesa County anthropologist, conducted additional searches totaling over 200 hours.
Marquardt's remains were recovered and are now in custody of the coroner's office for analysis a
